We have now crossed New Brunswick, staying in Moncton, Fredericton and Edmundston. We have visited a whole range of places in between. The best description for New Brunswick is “inoffensive wilderness”. It is quite different from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in some ways (not as harsh and challenging), but still heavily forested with small towns dotted throughout. The larger towns are historical and interesting in parts, but not exciting.
On nice notes, we had a coffee in a lovely local place in Moncton where they had a “Pay it Forward” board. We try and do this in the UK but it is hard, there it wasn’t, so we did it! We have also found that Canadians like live music in bars, which is excellent ๐.
Of the places we visited, we spent some time at the Bay of Fundy (bucket list) and managed to observe the massive tidal range at Hopewell rocks. It is really something to see. Luckily for us, we met a local Canadian couple who told us where to go to get down to the beach, and….nobody else was there ๐.
When travelling today, we opted to on “back roads” from Hartland to Grand Falls….whoops! The road had at least 3 or 4 different colours of tarmac due to patch after patch after patch. It also had pot holes everywhere, but of course you couldn’t see them due to the various coloured areas of tarmac ๐. If you think UK roads are bad think again. Most roads here, beyond the main highways, are dreadful. They have an excuse of course, their winters are severe, but even so…..
Moving on to Quebec tomorrow so better brush up on our French before they all start acting like Parisians ๐.
