Spectacular Cape Breton

Having crossed from NL to NS all I can say is that ferry is amazing. We have never been on a ferry so smart. The cabin was great and we slept well…then we got off! The weather was “somewhat challenging” again, another snow storm ๐ŸŒจ. Si picked up the hire car and they “suggested” we don’t leave the city until lunch time at the earliest. They also said we had to cross two mountains to get to Ingonish, our overnight stay, and it would be “tricky”. So, we waited a couple of hours and then went anyway ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™‚. We are still alive.

Our accommodation was a beautiful place. Every cafe/restaurant was of course “closed for the season” (we are getting used to that) but we found a Freshmart (think Spar) so got supplies ๐Ÿฅ—. Turns out that a Canadian guy there (a local) is well in to English football. He knew all the teams down to National League level!!!

This morning dawned as a beautiful day so we spent the day driving the Cabot Trail, which loops all round Cape Breton. Found some fab places and omg the views. We saw beaches, forests, mountains, continental fault lines, historic sites, a direct copy of a sheppards building from Skye (yes we are in Nova Scotia so Scotland is a big deal), large areas of frozen sea and a Chipmunk. It is a sparsly populated part of the world, it is a hard life, but spectacular.

Back to civilisation tomorrow, Halifax NS.
