We’ve made it to Canada….and to St John’s, Newfoundland, or should that be Dublin? There appears to be more (genuinely) Irish bars/pubs and music in St John’s, per capita, than in Dublin. Turns out Newfoundland is in fact Ireland 2.0 ๐ฎ๐ช! Good fun ๐.
Funny story…got to the airport in St John’s and one of our bags was missing ๐. On discussion with Air Canada another passenger had done the classic stupid thing and taken our bag not theirs. They called her and she refused to return to the airport with our suitcase or come and collect hers ๐. Apparently we should bring hers to her, and collect ours ๐ค. None of them had ever had someone say that to them! In the end they threatened her with the Police (theft) and she finally agreed when they pointed out they knew where she lived.
St John’s is interesting, historic and surrounded by desolate but beautiful mountains. It remains a little cool ๐ฅถ. Last week they had a snow storm that dumped 1.7m of snow on them in 24 hours ๐จ!! Most of it is still here, pilled up everywhere.
Today we explored an historic fishing village called Quidi Vidi, and The Rooms (art and history). We used a local bus (as it chucked it down) and chatted to loads of Canadians, all of whom are lovely. We are going to the most Eastern point of Canada, amongst other things, tomorrow ๐. Leaving St John’s for Gander on Sunday (think Come from Away musical).
